Rural Round-up: Landmark Global Rural Framework Released for Consultation
In late 2018, the World Health Organization sponsored the WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice (WWPRP), in partnership with Monash University, to develop a comprehensive Rural Pathways Checklist. The Checklist covers development, recruitment and retention of all types of skilled and qualified rural health workers in a range of countries and contexts but specifically focused on evidence from and solutions for low -and middle-income countries. In this month’s Rural Round-up, Assoc Prof Bruce Chater, Secretary and Chair Elect of WWPRP gives the background to the checklist and how it was developed.

Reflections from Jessie Mbamba, Montegut Global Scholar in Seoul 2018 The Montegut Global Scholars Program (MGSP) was established by the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation (ABFM-F) in 2010, to foster international education, research and collaboration, in the specialty of family medicine. It offers funding to each region to allow one or more scholars to attend a regional event or – in world conference year – to attend the world event. Jessie Mbamba, a family medicine resident from Malawi, was the winner of the WONCA Africa scholarship for 2018, allowing her to attend the Seoul conference. WONCA SAR Conference 2019 - Lahore
The Pakistan Society of Family Physicians will host the WONCA South Asia Region conference 2019 in Lahore, Pakistan, from 22-24 November 2019. The theme of the conference will be "Primary Care - Complete Health Care". Deadline for abstract submission is 15th June.
